To all registered BER Assessors, Members and Associate Members.
The Association www.berassessors.com are the recognised body representing BER Assessors.
As indicated in our May newsletter (click here to read) there is growing disquiet with the method of auditing of our well qualified members.
With the introduction of new regulations, standards and quality control, the profession is being driven by SEAI without any regard for the interests of those self employed professionals.
Assessors must be consulted prior to any changes to methodology, working conditions etc. and be able to dictate their own method of working within reasonable parameters.
The investment in their business is such that their very livelihood is being threatened and the substantial investment they have made is not being recognised or acknowledged.
No regard for the publication fees they generate is taken into account, including registration fees. This is a large source of income for a government body that is supposed to be self-financing.
This body, it would seem use these fees disproportionately to fund the ever-increasing control they exert on their registered Assessors.
Assessors have struggled over the last number of years and just when there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel come new quality control rules!!!!!
The evidence is there with the number of registered assessors having decreased dramatically as the business was not sustainable due to the level of competition and downward pressure on fees by some assessors.
We have now agreed a draft agenda for a meeting with SEAI, on the 13th of June. With this in mind we urgently require your views and suggestions. All views and suggestions will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
Typical of their cooperation, they have allocated 1 one hour for our meeting. We have asked for more time. The minutes of that meeting will be forwarded to you.
Click the button below to make a submission. This can be kept anonymous, we will not share your details with SEAI unless you ask us to.
